Doris Team takes on the Ration Challenge

The Ration Book Diet!

Posted: 26th October 2017

This November, in the run-up to Remembrance Day, many of the Doris Jones team will be restricting their diet to the rations that were available during the second world war. The eleven day challenge will end at a coffee morning being hosted by the company at St Peters Church, Eastwood, to which clients, staff and families are all welcome.

The team has been given some guidelines to follow, including food types, ration amounts and recipes, including such delights as Bacon Hotpot, Semolina Mould and Pilchard Salad! We'll see how long they can keep it up and make regular reports on our Facebook page.

Caroline Southgate, director of Doris Jones, said: "The whole idea of the Ration Challenge is to give our team some small insight into the realities faced by so many of our clients during the war. And it will no doubt prompt a few discussions with visitors to our coffee morning about life on rations and their memories of wartime Britain."

If you're interested in attending the coffee morning on November 11th, please email Natasha at Doris Jones.
