Physiotherapist / OT

Private Elderly Care, Southend-on-Sea
£39-£42k
Full-time, permanent

Bring your clinical expertise to a uniquely rehab-led, private elderly care service. As second in command of our 60-strong Client Services and Care teams, you’ll drive quality and consistency across all aspects of our service.

If you are looking for a rare and exciting new challenge to draw on your skills, get in touch for a chat. This is not a typical physio or OT role, but your rehab mindset is what makes you perfect for the role, and the Doris Jones team.

Background

Frustrated by the lack of physio/rehab-thinking present in the care industry, our founder Caroline, herself an accomplished physiotherapist, set out to establish a homecare service for the elderly that would actively enable improvement in the health of its clients.

In 2011, Caroline set up Doris Jones Limited to pair her physio training and experience with the highest quality homecare services to create a new and unique offering. The result is the most highly regarded service in the area, rated Outstanding by the CQC, and dedicated to supporting 150 local families.

We are now looking for a Deputy Manager to join our homecare team in Southend-on-Sea, Essex on a full-time permanent basis.

Why Doris Jones?

With a strong family ethos, Doris Jones is dedicated to enhancing quality of life for both our clients and their loved ones. We are proud to be one of the few homecare services rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. As such we pride ourselves on delivering the highest standard of care to meet the individual needs of those we care for.

Founded and managed by physiotherapists, we firmly believe that applying a rehab mindset to homecare not only sets us apart but also brings significant benefits. Slowing deterioration, enhancing resilience, preventing falls and promoting independence all contribute to maximising clients’ quality of life and increasing their ability to live safely at home.

Fantastic company benefits include

  • Competitive Salary: On offer is a competitive salary of £39,000 - £42,000 per annum plus out of hours allowance

  • Holiday: 28 days per annum, including Bank Holidays plus an extra day for your birthday

About the role

As Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Registered Manager (a long-serving, senior NHS physio) to oversee the day-to-day running of our Client Services department. You will line manage two office-based supervisors and be responsible for the shared management of a 60-strong care team.

In this role you will be working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7am – 3pm or 10am – 6pm in rotation. There is also a requirement for regular paid out of hours cover in addition to these core hours.

Hands-on physio/OT in a traditional sense will be limited, but rehab principles are fundamental to all we do; guiding training and personal development of the team, as well as client assessment, care planning and delivery.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Provide the passionate, inspirational leadership your team expects in a role model.

  • Working with your team, manage, motivate and develop the care team in line with company values and the “Doris Code” of conduct.

  • Ensure the delivery of a consistently reliable, premium quality service worthy of our Outstanding CQC rating.

  • Conduct spot checks and audits and liaise with colleagues to produce regular key performance indicator (KPI) reports

  • Conduct new client assessments, oversee care planning and medication reviews, and liaise with health professionals to maintain the wellbeing of our clients.

  • Participate in the training and development of team members, proposing innovative training content and collaborating with HR to schedule sessions.

  • Oversee Client Services processes to maintain a safe and efficient working environment, flexibly managing priorities and implementing policy changes as necessary.

  • Participate in the out-of-hours team by covering shifts and providing immediate assistance as necessary.

About you

You should have a minimum of 3 years’ management experience within a senior clinical position. You should hold a degree in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy, with evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

You will demonstrate exceptional communication skills, the ability to motivate and persuade others effectively, expertise in Microsoft Office, strong organisational, prioritisation, and delegation skills, and a passion for facilitating staff development. An up-to-date DBS certificate and a valid UK driving licence with access to a car for work purposes are also essential.
